PETS WELCOME

The town of Buckeye, Arizona was founded way back in the days of the Wild West (1888). However, unlike many of Arizona’s rural towns, Buckeye residents didn’t settle this area for mining but rather, it was water that caught their eye.

The Buckeye Canal began development in 1884. Named in honor of the original founders home state of Ohio; the Buckeye canal became the keystone for the townspeople.

Around 1910 the town received its first boom when the Arizona Easter Railroad built a stretch near Downtown. Prior to the rail, animal drawn carts were the sole means of transportation. By 1915 automobiles made their way to Buckeye and the town was connected with larger cities with a new highway.

Around the time the Atomic Ranch was built in the 1950’s, Downtown Buckeye was the along the main route between Phoenix and Los Angeles. Even today, conveinance & service stations dot the Main Street of Monroe paying tribute to those days of road trips of long ago.
